In observance of the upcoming National Police Week, the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police on Thursday will sponsor its annual memorial service in tribute to Nashville’s officers who have died in the line of duty.
The noon service will be held at First Baptist Church, 108 7th Avenue South (7th & Broadway). The public and media representatives are invited.
The service honors the 45 law enforcement professionals who have died in service to Nashvillians since 1875. Officer Eric Mumaw was the last Metro officer killed in the line of duty. He drowned in the Cumberland River on February 2, 2017, while attempting to aid an intoxicated and distraught woman in a car at the edge of a boat ramp.
