The works in Treasures from the House of Alba at the Frist Center feature Renaissance courtiers and knights, mythological tales, and heroes, heroines, and villains from history and literature. See the impressive cast of characters in this exhibition come to life as actors from the Nashville Shakespeare Festival perform dramatic readings and scenes from classic literature, poetry, plays, and historical sources in the Frist Center galleries. The selection of scenes will be accompanied by live classical Spanish music in this unique one-hour performance.
Jazz on the Move

The final program of the 2016 Jazz on the Move series will honor the music of the Benny Golson/Art Farmer Jazztet and celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month. The Jazztet was a sextet formed by saxophonist Benny Golson and trumpeter Art Farmer in 1959, known for its outstanding compositions and arrangements and superb ensemble feel. Trombonist Roland Barber and friends will give an in-depth look at and pay tribute to this classic jazz ensemble.

Taking inspiration from the Frist Center’s exhibition The Power of Pictures: Early Soviet Photography and Film, join Vesna Pavlović, artist and Vanderbilt photography professor, to explore the relationship between photography and ideology. Learn the basics of film exposure and negative processing at Nashville Community Darkroom, and then utilize its wet lab, film loading room, and other amenities throughout the week to experiment and to develop prints. On the final Saturday, share your results at the Frist Center with your classmates.
