Ring in the New Year without the hassles of parking and traffic
NASHVILLE – Are you going to the Music City New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway? Want to avoid the headaches of traffic and searching for a downtown parking spot? Ride the Music City Star!
For the first time, the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA) will operate the Music City Star train to Music City’s New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway on Tuesday, December 31st.
“This event is one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the country,” RTA Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Ballard said. “We are pleased to partner with the Convention and Visitors Corporation and provide excellent train service to this event.”
The special New Year’s Eve excursion train is scheduled to depart Lebanon Station (334 W. Baddour Parkway) at 6:40 p.m., Martha (65 Martha Circle) at 6:51 p.m., Mt. Juliet (22 E. Division St.) at 7 p.m., Hermitage (4121 Andrew Jackson Parkway) at 7:08 p.m., Donelson (2705 Lebanon Pike) at 7:15 p.m. and arrive at Riverfront Station at 7:30 p.m. The return train will leave Riverfront Station 30 minutes after the fireworks show ends and stop at all the stations. Parking is free at the outlying stations and is not available at Riverfront Station.
An allotment of 400 tickets will be available to the general public. Round-trip tickets cost $12 plus a $1 processing fee and are available for purchase through the transit authorities’ websites or at http://www.ticketsnashville.com with a credit card. Tickets will be on sale until 24 hours prior to departure or until they are sold out, whichever comes first.
Customers will receive only one round-trip ticket for the New Year’s Eve train and must show the ticket to train personnel for scanning when boarding. Children age 4 and younger will not need a ticket to board; however, they will be required to sit in their parent’s lap. Children age 5 and older will need a ticket. Weekday Music City Star tickets and passes are not accepted on the New Year’s Eve train.
For those wanting to get downtown earlier, there are several other daily trips. A train leaves Mt. Juliet Station at 5 p.m., stops at the Hermitage Station at 5:07 p.m., and Donelson Station at 5:20 p.m., and arrives downtown at Riverfront at 5:35 p.m. Two other trains depart Lebanon Station at 3:20 p.m. and 3:55 p.m. with stops in Hermitage and Donelson before arriving downtown at Riverfront Station at 4:10 p.m. and 4:50 p.m., respectively. Special New Year’s Eve tickets may be used on any inbound train to Nashville on December 31st.
Customers who choose to take an earlier train will still need the special New Year’s Eve ticket in order to board the train at Riverfront Station following the fireworks at New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway.
Backpacks and folding chairs will be allowed onboard the train. Any items that will not fit underneath the seat, such as large coolers, bikes and wagons, are not permitted on the train.
