Accused murderer Travis Andrew Harris is being held without bond in the Metro Jail on charges of criminal homicide and parole violation as the result of his arrest Sunday night in Gallatin. Acting on information received by East Precinct detectives, Gallatin police located Harris at an apartment, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Harris, 27, is accused of fatally shooting Quintin Brooks, 24, in a parking lot of McFerrin Community Center on the night of July 10th. The motive for the gunfire is believed to have involved a dispute over a woman. Harris’ girlfriend was the mother of Brooks’ child. The investigation by lead Detective Cressie Prill shows that Brooks drove to the closed community center and parked for several minutes prior to a gunman approaching and firing shots into Brooks’ vehicle. Brooks was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
Harris was on parole in relation to a 2013 especially aggravated robbery conviction, for which he received an 11-year sentence.
