South Precinct detectives are continuing to sort out the circumstances surrounding Thursday afternoon’s gunfire in the Kroger parking lot at 61 East Thompson Lane. Two of the parties who appear to have been involved, brothers Marquel Peoples, 22, and DeMarko Peoples, 25, were dropped off with non-critical gunshot wounds at Southern Hills Medical Center. They have not been forthcoming with information, other than that they were shot in the parking lot.
Witnesses reported that a person(s) in a dark colored pickup truck pulled up and opened fire on Marquel People’s car. The truck then drove off as persons in the car shot back. The persons in the car then got into a white sedan and left the scene. A short time later, Marquel and DeMarko Peoples were dropped off at Southern Hills.
A gun and a baggie containing a white powder were found in the car the Peoples abandoned in the parking lot.
The investigation is continuing.
