A traffic safety sobriety checkpoint has been planned for late Friday night/early Saturday morning in Bellevue in the area of Highway 70 South. The checkpoint will be staffed by the MNPD’s DUI Unit and extra-duty officers working through a grant from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
As of today, there have been 69 fatal crashes in Nashville, at least 24 of which involved impairment. The results of toxicology testing are pending in several other fatal crash investigations.
The police department strongly urges Nashvillians to plan for a designated driver or enlist a cab or ride sharing service if travel is necessary after consuming alcohol.
