East Precinct Flex officers arrested three teenagers, two 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old, for Sunday afternoon’s armed carjacking in South Inglewood Park.
The 27-year-old vehicle owner and two friends, ages 24 and 21, were playing football in the park during the 3 o’clock hour Sunday when they were approached by three teens who asked to join the game. They agreed and played football with the teens for 15 to 20 minutes before the two groups went their separate ways. When the three adults returned to the 27-year-old’s 2006 Toyota SUV, the young football players approached with a couple of other teens. One of the teens asked the victims for a cigarette and money for a drink. Suddenly a pistol was pulled and the three adults were ordered out of the SUV. The teens piled in and drove away.
Today, East Precinct officers saw the Toyota traveling in the James Cayce public housing development. The three teens inside it were seen going into an apartment. They were then taken into custody by Flex officers. The victims identified all three from photo lineups as being involved.
Tywan Lyons and Derryon Lyons, both 14, and Jeroy Green, 15, have been booked into Juvenile Court on a charge of aggravated robbery.
*Photographs of the three are not being released at present so as not to jeopardize the showing of lineups in other cases under investigation.
