Juvenile Crime Task Force officers Thursday evening recovered the red stolen Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle after this afternoon’s murder of 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets at his home in the 3200 block of Torbett Street in the North Precinct.
The pickup truck was abandoned in the 1600 block of Timberland Drive in the Hermitage Precinct. Witnesses on Timberland Drive reported that three juveniles got out of the pickup truck. Two of them fled in a silver or light blue crossover type vehicle, while the third was last seen on foot walking on Mossdale Drive toward Bell Road. He is black, has eye-length dreads and is wearing a red hoodie with white writing and black Jordan shoes.
Yorlets was shot outside his residence. He made it back inside, where he was found by one of his housemates at 3 p.m. Yorlets was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Yorlets was from Pennsylvania and went to college at Belmont University. He was a member of a local band and worked at a restaurant.
The pickup truck was stolen Wednesday in Oak Grove, Kentucky. Officers from multiple precincts as well as the Juvenile Crime Task Force are working to locate the young persons who were in the truck.
